No more drilling on Fylla

April 27, 2001, 01:45 CEST

Statoil and the other licensees do not want to drill any more wells in the Fylla area west of Greenland. The authorities have been informed of the decision.

The Quelleq-1 well, which was drilled last summer, proved to be a duster. The geological information from the drilling has been analysed in detail, and the results have convinced Statoil and the partners that further drilling in the area is not justified.

The eastern part of the licence where Quelleq-1 was drilled was handed back on 31 March this year. This was in line with the licensing agreement.

The licensees are Statoil (operator), Phillips, Nunaoil and Dansk Olie og Naturgas.
