Oil spill at Statfjord

The spill occurred when the tanker Navion Britannia was loading oil from a loading buoy.

NOFO (the Norwegian Clean Seas Association for Operating Companies) has been notified about the spill and is preparing emergency actions.

An aircraft from the Norwegian Coastal Administration and a helicopter have been deployed to determine the extent of the discharge.

The wind speed at Statfjord is currently around 45 knots in northern direction and the wave height is up to 7 metres.

The Statfjord field is located around 200 kilometres west of Bergen, close to the border of the UK continental shelf.
