Equinor UK and the Armed Forces Covenant

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

Equinor UK is proud to support the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families.

We recognise the skills, experience and values developed through service, and the contribution they make to our organisation, our industry and UK society. Supporting people through change and transition is part of how we live our values and continue Searching for Better - creating an environment where people can develop, contribute and grow.

Equinor UK is a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing our commitment to fair treatment and opportunity for the Armed Forces community.

In July 2024, Equinor UK was awarded Bronze status under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This recognises the steps we have taken to support the Armed Forces community within our organisation.

Bronze status is an important foundation. We are committed to continuing this work, strengthening our approach and building the consistency, understanding and engagement required to progress further within the scheme over time.

Why this commitment matters to us

Service develops leadership, resilience, teamwork and adaptability, qualities that matter in a complex and changing energy system.

Our commitment reflects our belief that no member of the Armed Forces community should face disadvantage in employment, and that organisations have a responsibility to support individuals as they move between roles, careers and stages of life.

What we are doing today

We have practical measures in place to support members of the Armed Forces community across Equinor UK, including:

  • Supporting employees who are active reservists through flexible and understanding working arrangements
  • Fair and inclusive recruitment practices that recognise transferable skills and experience
  • Building internal awareness to better support veterans, reservists and military families
  • Participating in careers and outreach activity to improve understanding of opportunities within Equinor UK
  • Supporting colleagues in meeting civic responsibilities and national events of remembrance

These actions reflect where we are today and provide a foundation for continued progress.

What we’re working towards

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community is ongoing.
Over time, we aim to:

  • Strengthen and formalise support for reservists, veterans and service leavers
  • Deepen engagement with Armed Forces organisations and networks
  • Continue improving how we recognise and value experience gained through service
  • Build consistency across policies, practice and internal understanding

This page will evolve as our work develops, acting as a transparent record of our commitment and progress.

Armed Forces Covenant

Equinor UK signed the Armed Forces Covenant in July 2024, confirming our commitment to:
