Ripple effects from Equinor's activities in Norway

Ripple effects from the Norwegian continental shelf refer to the jobs, value creation and economic activity that arise not only within Equinor, but also among suppliers and across the wider Norwegian economy.

Equinor’s activities in Norway support businesses, local communities and industries across large parts of the country. Around 95 percent of Norwegian municipalities are affected, either through people employed by Equinor or through suppliers delivering goods and services to the company.

The figures on this page are based on Equinor’s ripple effects analysis for 2025, a yearly analysis carried out by Kunnskapsparken Bodø.

The figures are based on Equinor’s ripple effects report for 2025. Job number reflects full-time job equivalents. Deliveries reflect what is purchased, while value creation reflects the economic value generated in the Norwegian economy. The value of produced oil and gas is not included. . 

Ripple effects across Norway

Equinor’s activities contribute to economic activity across the country, from industrial companies along the coast to technology environments and service providers.

In 2025, a total of 1,930 Norwegian companies delivered goods and services to Equinor. Over the past five years, Norwegian suppliers have accounted for an average of 93.2 percent of deliveries related to the company’s activities in Norway.

This reflects a long-standing collaboration with domestic supplier environments and supports the development of expertise, technology and industrial capacity.

Value creation and supplier activity

Deliveries of goods and services linked to Equinor’s activities in Norway amounted to NOK 147.6 billion in 2025. Of this, 95.2 percent – equivalent to NOK 140.5 billion – was sourced from Norwegian supplier companies.
