A new adventure on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS)
When we first discovered oil in the North Sea, few people in Norway could have foreseen the growth and affluence that this venture would bring to the country.
Today, a new chapter of the Norwegian petroleum saga is being written. Its name is Johan Sverdrup and the field may well turn out to be the most significant on the NCS since the 1980s.
Thanks to technology developed over the years on the NCS, emissions and discharges from Johan Sverdrup will be very low. Our ambition as operator is to achieve a recovery rate of up to 70%, meaning that we will be able to ensure growth, jobs and industrial development for decades to come.
