The inshore route to be followed by Statoil's Europipe II gas trunkline has been approved by the Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries.
"We're pleased that a decision has now been reached, and that we can live with this solution," says Statoil executive vice president Terje Vareberg.
The ministry had previously opposed plans to lay the line across the Falkeidflæet sound to the island of Austre Bokn on its way from Kårstø north of Stavanger to Emden in Germany.
But Statoil's proposal to cover much of the line has created a new position, the ministry says in a press release. Ships will now be able to manoeuvre safely in to the Kårstø terminal.
