A partnership has been established by Statoil and Disam, the Danish energy distributor and electricity supplier.
This collaboration takes the group a step further forward in its drive to become Scandinavia's total supplier of energy solutions, reports Bent Pedersen, vice president for energy at Statoil Denmark.
"Our goal is to be able to satisfy the customer's overall energy requirements, with the choice of energy bearer depending on market conditions at any given time," he says.
Statoil and Disam will draw on each other's expertise in marketing and trading oil products and in electricity supply respectively. The aim is to allow both households and commercial customers to get the energy solution that suits them best from a single source.
The partnership has so far resulted in practical trials of a mini power station called "Sekseren" (Number Six), which is aimed at large households and small businesses remote from district heating networks.
Two pilot projects focused on manufacturers and the domestic electrical heating sector have also been launched. These ventures build on a plan for total energy solutions.
