Rig charter extended

November 25, 1998, 08:00 CET

A one-year charter extension worth some USD 35 million has been awarded to Transocean Offshore by Statoil.

This deal covers the Transocean Prospect rig, which is primarily drilling production wells on Norne. It will continue to work on this Statoil field in the Norwegian Sea under the extended charter.

US-owned Transocean currently has seven semi-submersible drilling units on the Norwegian continental shelf, with five of these working for Statoil.
