The search for the 50-year-old welder who vanished from Sleipner A in the North Sea on 22 February is being wound down.
A hunt was initiated at 16.30 on the day of his disappearance, three hours after he had last been seen at work on the Statoil-operated installation.
Crew combed the platform while helicopters and supply ships were mobilised to look for the missing man in the surrounding sea.
Support ship Normann Mjolne has also searched an area of roughly 200,000 square metres with remotely-operated vehicles (ROVs). This part of the operation was discontinued on the morning of 26 February.
A final search will be conducted over the weekend in the A platform's water-filled concrete support shafts with a mini-ROV controlled from the topside.
The police and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) have finished their investigations on the platform. According to the police, there are no indications that any criminal offence has occurred. The police inquiry will continue on land, and the NPD has no further comments.
