The first cargo of crude from Statoil's Siri field off Denmark will reach the Mongstad terminal and refinery near Bergen on 11 April.
"Since this is our first Siri consignment, we'll initially process a small proportion mixed with other crudes to check its properties," explains staff engineer Eivind Blindheim in Mongstad's production planning unit.
Siri lies 130 nautical miles west of the Danish port of Esbjerg, and shuttle tanker Navion Clipper will take a day to carry the initial 270,000 barrels to Norway.
The field began operation on 1 March, and currently produces 25,000 barrels of oil per day. This output is due to reach a daily plateau of 50,000 barrels during the summer.
