Statfjord A back on stream

June 4, 1999, 15:45 CEST

Production resumed from Statfjord A and Saga's Snorre field in the North Sea late on 3 June after a week's shut-down.

The Statoil-operated platform suspended operations on 28 May following a leak in part of the ballast water piping. This has now been repaired.

One consequence of the shut-down was that Snorre had to cease production because oil from this field is processed on Statfjord A.

The Statfjord C platform is also due to resume production today, 4 June, after a planned turnaround.

Normal output from the three Statfjord platforms is currently around 265,000 barrels per day. Including Snorre production, Statfjord A processes roughly 180,000 barrels per day.
