Offshore catering operations in Statoil are fully competitive with services from external contractors, according to an internal audit report.
"Our overall impression of the improvement work being pursued in Statoil's own catering sector is very good," this document concludes.
"These operations maintain good standards of quality and service, and customers are very satisfied."
Credit must be given for continuous efforts to improve in a number of areas, says the audit team, which also formed a good impression of catering services by contractor Eurest on Statfjord.
The report notes that maintaining two different solutions for offshore catering within the group provides a good basis for comparison, which will in itself help to promote improvement for both sides.
However, using Statoil's own employees to provide these services provides greater flexibility by integrating personnel from operations and catering in future improvement work.
"The audit report is a pat on the back for our catering operations," says Henrik Carlsen, senior vice president for Exploration & Production Norway.
"I hope it will serve as a vitamin jab to everyone working in this area, whether they're employed by Eurest or Statoil."
On the basis of a competition analysis, the corporate management resolved in June that Statoil would continue to run its own offshore catering operation.
