Siri back on stream

February 25, 2000, 14:00 CET

Production from Statoil's Siri field in the Danish North Sea is due to resume on 27 February after being shut down for 11 days.

A leaking pipe which connects the seabed oil storage tank to the flare boom on the platform prompted the production halt on 16 February.

This line is partially below water, and roughly 288 litres of crude leaked to the sea.

When production resumes, oil output will be transferred directly to a shuttle tanker rather than being sent via the storage tank.

This loading method is due to be maintained until the necessary repair work has been carried out.

Siri was producing about 50,000 barrels per day before the shut-down and will return to this level when production re-starts.
