Yme shut down

April 28, 2000, 16:00 CEST

The Mærsk Giant platform on Yme was shut down on the evening of 27 April after a routine inspection revealed a fault in the firewater system.

Several plugged nozzles were discovered during testing, reports Sissel Moldskred, acting operations vice president for this Statoil field in the North Sea.

Work to rectify these conditions has been initiated, and will take about a week. Statoil resolved to suspend production until the repairs are completed.

Yme normally produces 25,000 barrels of oil per day from the platform, a jack-up unit owned by Denmark's Maersk company which also operates the field on behalf of Statoil.
