The Åsgard C storage ship set off on the 730-kilometre voyage from Stavanger to the Statoil field in the Norwegian Sea on 22 May.
Since this 264-metre vessel was delivered from Spain's Sestao yard in Bilbao on 2 May, it has lain in the Åmøy Fjord near Stavanger for tests of the dynamic positioning system.
In addition, equipment was loaded for pulling in the loading buoy and riser on the field.
When Åsgard C arrives on the field in the course of today, 23 May, it will start work on pulling in and locking the condensate loading buoy.
The ship will then be connected via a flexible riser to the seabed flowline leading to the Åsgard B gas and condensate production floater about four kilometres away.
In addition, the flowline system between platform and vessel must be tested and cleaned.
Petter Gundersen, project manager for Åsgard C, expects that it will be ready to receive condensate from the field's Midgard structure by 1 July.
Chartered by Statoil from Haugesund-based Knutsen OAS Shipping, the storage ship can hold 868,000 barrels of condensate. The latter is a light oil separated from the gas.
