Sleipner East back on stream

September 19, 2000, 12:30 CEST

Production from Statoil's Sleipner East field in the North Sea resumed this morning, 19 September, after being suspended for a week.

The Sleipner A platform shut down on 12 September following the discovery of rust damage to a flange in the processing plant.

This problem has now been repaired, reports operations manager Kåre Søvik. All components utilising similar flanges have also been inspected without finding further corrosion.

Production will now be gradually restored and should be back at its normal level within two-three days, Mr Søvik says.

Sleipner East's gas delivery commitments have been met during the shutdown with the aid of supplies from Troll.
