At 11.16 local time today, smoke was reported in a turbine housing on Hydro's Troll B semi-submersible platform in the North Sea.
The platform's carbon dioxide unit was put into action and platform emergency teams mobilized. Personnel were mustered into lifeboats and a Sea King helicopter was dispatched from Bergen to the nearby Troll C platform.
The platform's safety systems functioned properly and the alert was called off some two hours later.
The reason for the smoke is believed to be leaking lubrication oil.
