Best for jet fuel

May 23, 2001, 10:00 CEST

A poll of airlines covering 66 suppliers in 2000 has ranked Statoil as the world’s best regional marketer of jet fuel for the second year running.

Statoil Aviation easily took the title, according to the survey report from the international consultant Armbrust Aviation Group.

Regional suppliers in general were praised for better pricing policies and communication skills than international groups such as Shell, BP and Mobil.

“The fact that we came fourth among international and regional companies in terms of total points is impressive,” says Statoil Aviation marketing manager Per Rasløv.

“That is particularly so when we know that our organisation has less than 0.5 per cent of the global market.”

Statoil came out ahead of companies such as Chevron, Texaco and TotalFinaElf in the survey.

The report concludes that bigger is not always best. Mergers have brought confusion and numerous personnel changes, chronic invoicing and accounting mistakes.

Statoil comes top among the airlines for such characteristics as the best informed company, with the best staff and organisation.

In addition, the group is regarded as the most innovative, the best in terms of technical expertise and ahead of the field for its operations department.
