Mikkel contracts awarded

June 7, 2001, 18:00 CEST

On behalf of its partners in the Norwegian Sea's Mikkel field, Statoil has awarded contracts for commissioning of the field.

FMC Kongsberg Subsea will design and manufacture subsea production systems such as subsea templates and wellheads. The value of the contract is just under NOK 400 million.

Reinertsen Engineering will design subsea systems such as pipelines and control cables. The value of this contract is NOK 6 million.

Kværner Oil & Gas will design modifications for the Åsgard B platform, to which the well flow from Mikkel will be sent. The contract is worth around NOK 30 million. In addition, there are options for additional work valued at NOK 50 million.

The Mikkel gas and condensate field is planned to come on stream in 2003. The field has been assigned responsibility to supply natural gas, but the plan for development and operation (PDO) is under preparation by the partners. Since the contracts have been signed before the authorities have approved the PDO, appropriate cancellation clauses have been included, reports project manager Jan Vesterkjær.
