November 20, 2001, 09:00 CET

Prosafe Drilling Services will continue to drill on the Gullfaks field in the North Sea. Statoil has negotiated the terms for a one-year extension of its agreement with the company.

“Prosafe will carry out platform drilling on the Gullfaks field for a further year commencing on 1 April 2002. The assignment is worth around NOK 200 million,” reports Øyvind Hansen, special adviser for contracts in operations support.

The contract includes an option for an additional two years.

In the course of next year a total of eight to 10 wells will be drilled from the three Gullfaks platforms, says Arild Hesjedal, manager for resource utilisation on the main Gullfaks field.

Prosafe has held the contract for platform drilling on the Gullfaks field continuously since 1986.
