Statoil has signed an agreement with District Offshore (DOF) for the delivery of a new, large supply vessel to be used on the Norwegian continental shelf.
The contract, worth just under NOK 200 million, is for five years and includes three one-year options.
The agreement with DOF will take effect in February 2002. Statoil will use the vessel Skandi Hav until the newbuilding is delivered in November next year.
âThe new vessel, which will be based in Stavanger to begin with, will serve the Sleipner fields in the North Sea, among others,â reports Kjell Hofland, special coordinator for Statoilâs long-term charters.
The vessel is type MT 6000. It has diesel-electric propulsion and meets the new and stricter classification requirements to noise and the environment. It has a deck area of around 900 square metres and has ample cargo capacity below deck.
Statoil also has a contract for the use of three other vessels owned by DOF â Skandi Bergen, Skandi Stolmen and Skandi Stord.
