     <p>A contract initially worth about NOK 500 million for integrated drilling services on a number of Statoil fields has been awarded to Schlumberger Norge.</p> 
     <p>Running for two years with options for two renewals of the same duration, the job covers directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), mud logging and drilling optimisation.</p> 
     <p>“Schlumberger has been chosen after an overall assessment of quality, technical content and price found that its bid was the best,” says Magnar Fagerbakke.</p> 
     <p>He heads the rig and drilling contracts department of the production support unit in Exploration &amp; Production Norway.</p> 
     <p>The contract covers Statfjord, Gullfaks, their respective satellites and Veslefrikk in the North Sea, as well as Kristin and Norne in the Norwegian Sea.</p> 
     <p>It also includes an option for Vigdis, Tordis, Snorre and Visund in the North Sea, currently operated by Norsk Hydro but due to be taken over by Statoil on 1 January.</p> 
     <p>Integrated drilling services embrace equipment and services used for data gathering and optimal well placement.</p>
