February 12, 2004, 08:00 CET

A contract worth NOK 82 million for integrated drilling services on the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea has been awarded to Schlumberger Norge by operator Statoil.

The integrated drilling services job encompasses equipment and activities relating to data collection and optimal well location.

Placed on behalf of the Snøhvit licence, this job embraces directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD) and mud logging.

It applies for 10 wells due to be drilled up to July 2006, with two options for one-year extensions.

“Schlumberger won this contract because it submitted the best bid, both technically and commercially,” says Thor Bensvik, drilling and well technology manager for Snøhvit.

“It’s also a large and reliable supplier of these services in other licences Statoil operates, and has demonstrated a good health, safety and environmental culture.”
