Hydro's employee magazine Hi! (Hydro Inside) has won two Awards of Excellence in the prestigious 2004 Communicators in Business (CiB) Awards.
CiB is the UK's leading professional body for people involved in corporate, employee or other business communications. Its national awards, the largest competition of this kind in Europe, attract hundreds of entries in classes ranging across print, electronic media and communication skills.
Hi!, launched in December 2003 and produced in seven languages for 36,000 employees of Hydro worldwide, received one of its awards in the ‘new publication’ category. The judges’ comments included: "It’s an upward curve from the front cover which demands that the reader finds out what it’s all about. Its presentation makes this magazine stand out from the crowd…different it is, but what a winning difference."
The second Award of Excellence was in the ‘multilingual publication’ category. The judges thought it "a very distinctive publication with a lively contemporary feel. Pictures and illustrations are strong and do a good job in helping to get the message across, as does the striking typography and the slightly unusual size."
Hi! is produced by a team led by Tone Dahle, Chief Internal Editor, and including Hydro Media and London communication company item.
The awards will be presented at a gala dinner in Warwick, UK, on 7 May.
