Langeled transhipment contract worth NOK 150 million awarded

The Langeled Project has awarded NorSea AS a contract for transhipment and temporary storage of coated linepipes worth about NOK 150 million.

The contract covers transhipment and temporary storage of about 60,000 coated line pipes from the coating facilities in Farsund to locations close to the starting and arrival point of the pipeline between Nyhamna in Mid-Norway and Easington on the eastern coast of UK.

Transshipment of Linepipes from Farsund will start in September 2004. The linepipes will be transported with bulk ships from Farsund for temporary storage at Hartlepool in England, Coast Center Base at Ågotnes, Måløy and Vestbase in Kristiansund. The contract duration is approximately two years.

Hydro is operator for Ormen Lange during the development phase, including all field development, the onshore gas processing plant at Nyhamna in Mid-Norway, as well as the export pipeline project - Langeled. Statoil has the project management of the Langeled in cooperation with Hydro.

Production start of the Ormen Lange field is planned for October 2007.
 
Ormen Lange is the largest gas field under development on the Norwegian continental shelf. It is located 100 km off the northwest coast of Norway at a water depth of 850 to 1,100 meters.
