Sponsoring the Royal League

November 8, 2004, 17:00 CET

Statoil has agreed to be one of the principal partners for the new Royal League soccer competition being organised in Scandinavia.

This contest will embrace the four best men’s teams in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and Statoil’s deal with the organiser covers two years plus options to extend that period.

“We’ve collaborated with soccer bodies for a long time at both premiership and local level, and want to continue this,” says Oddvar Høie, marketing manager in the promotion and media unit.

The first round of the Royal League starts in November, with the quarter and semi-finals due to be played in the New Year and the final scheduled for 26 May.

This championship has been developed jointly by the national leagues and football federations in the three Scandinavian countries.
