A marine operations contract worth just under NOK 70 million has been awarded to Stolt Offshore by Statoil on behalf of the licensees for the Norne development in the Norwegian Sea.
This assignment relates to installation of the field’s new K template, which is due to be tied back to the existing subsea installations.
FMC Kongsberg Subsea has contracted to deliver the structure, which is fabricated by Multimaskin at Mo i Rana in northern Norway.
The contract with Stolt Offshore embraces engineering, fabrication and delivery of flexible jumpers and manifold installation.
In addition comes installation of the actual K structure and the connection of flowlines and umbilicals to link it with the existing seabed templates.
Installation is due to be carried out in September as an extension of marine operations currently under way on the Urd development, which embraces Norne’s Stær and Svale satellites.
Plans call for the rest of the work to be done during the summer and autumn of next year.
The wells are also due to be drilled and completed during 2006, so that production from the new template can begin as early as the autumn of that year.
Placing a new template on Norne is expected to improve recovery from the reservoir by more than 10 million barrels of oil.
Statoil’s partners in the field are Petoro, Norsk Hydro and ENI Norge.
