Statoil has been ranked as the best oil and gas company in the world for sustainability by the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World).
“It’s very gratifying to be rated as the best in the world by this organisation,” says Rolf Magne Larsen, senior vice president for country analysis and social responsibility.
“One of our core values is to contribute to sustainable development and accept social responsibility. This positive feedback from the market shows we’re on the right track.
“Only a handful of oil and gas companies make it onto this list – nine out of 79. So it’s an extra bonus to be ranked as number one among these few.”
Statoil had the same ranking last year, but has improved on the great majority of the underlying measurements since then.
“The most gratifying aspect compared with 2004 is the finding that we’ve become better at developing our personnel,” says Mr Larsen.
“This means that we’re now perceived as being cleverer, more professional and more systematic at providing employees with opportunities for development.”
