Accolade for annual report

September 19, 2005, 09:50 CEST

Statoil has been awarded the Farmand 2005 prize for best annual report and accounts among listed companies in Norway. The company also received the prize for best Internet publishing, thereby winning two of five possible categories.

The Farmand prize is the most prestigious prize for annual reports in Norway.

Statoil was acclaimed by the jury as a heavyweight with extremely detailed and concrete information in most parts of the report.

"We are very pleased to receive this prize which confirms that Statoil is at the forefront in both printed and electronic communication," says editor John Ove Lindøe, who received the prize along with project manager Anne Aae.

"It is gratifying to note the jury's acknowledgement of the aspects we have worked to emphasise for a couple of years," Mr Lindøe continues.

"These are our business operations, plans and strategies. We also work consciously on the quality of language in the printed and Internet versions."

Grounds given by the jury for its decision include that the introduction to the report is almost identical to the jury's preferences.

A clear account of the group's operations and locations is provided. Further, Statoil's strategy and goals are excellently presented.

The categories which are assessed include overview, directors' report, accounts and notes, analytical information, shareholder information and business review.

The Farmand prize consists of five categories: listed companies, non-listed companies, public sector activities, best concept and design and best Internet publishing.
