Predictability and a long-term approach are important for Statoil and the Norwegian oil and gas industry, emphasises chief executive Helge Lund in an article in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten today, 26 September.
"The oil and gas industry is a cornerstone of the Norwegian economy," says Mr Lund. "It contributes more than a fifth of the country’s total value creation, about half its export earnings and some 76,000 direct jobs. So the framing of petroleum policy unquestionably has major consequences for income, jobs and prosperity."
