A fire that broke out on the Åsgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea at around midday today, 15 October, is under control and the situation has now been normalised.
The fire started in the exhaust section in one of the main generators, which triggered an immediate shutdown of the production.
There are 118 people on board, and there were no injuries during the incident. The crew disembarked from the lifeboats and was assembled in the recreation room in the living quarters.
Emergency response vessels are still in the area, and the helicopter has been stood down.
Water canons and fire hoses on the platform extinguished the fire. Investigations are now taking place in the actual exhaust duct following the fire.
Normal daily output on Åsgard B is 42 million cubic metres of gas, 16,000 barrels of oil, and 69,000 barrels of condensate.
