Sleipner East on stream

October 17, 2005, 11:40 CEST

Production on the Statoil operated Sleipner East field in the North Sea was resumed yesterday afternoon, Sunday 16 October. The field had been shut down following a gas leak on the Sleipner A platform on 12 October.

"We expect to have full production of gas and condensate in the course of Monday morning," says Kåre Søvik, head of Sleipner operations.

Production on the Sleipner West field was resumed 24 hours after the gas leak occurred.

A routine inquiry is being held by Statoil to find the cause of the gas leak on Sleipner A.

Daily output from Sleipner East is roughly 22 million cubic metres of gas and 40,000 barrels of condensate.

Sleipner West produces about 22 million cubic metres of gas and 55,000 barrels of condensate daily
