New rescue vessel contract

July 5, 2006, 15:00 CEST

Hydro has signed a contract with Havila Shipping ASA to charter the multipurpose rescue vessel Havila Runde for five years, with options to extend by two one-year periods. The contract, options inclusive, is worth a total of approximately NOK 260 million.

Havila Runde, which has been chartered by Hydro since 2002, has in recent years played an important part in Hydro's emergency preparedness measures  for the Oseberg Troll area.

The vessel will continue to provide the same services under the terms of the new contract.

Since 2002 Hydro has been operator for emergency preparedness in the Oseberg-Troll area, where a number of joint emergency preparedness measures are shared between the operators and installations in the area.

Together with the rescue helicopter, based at the Oseberg Field Center, the two specially equipped rescue vessels Havila Troll and Havila Runde are extremely important with a view to ensuring that oil operations in the area are protected by sound emergency preparedness measures.

Havila Runde is additionally equipped with a daughter craft, which is a rescue boat that can be deployed quickly and safely from the parent vessel.
