Extra accommodation at Nyhamna for Ormen Lange project

September 21, 2006, 12:00 CEST

The Ormen Lange project has entered into a contract with Hurtigruten Group ASA to extend overnight accomodation capacity at Nyhamna with an additional ship. This increases existing capacity with about 150 beds, as of 1 October. The contract is valued at approximately NOK 30 million.

The following ships are in use at Nyhamna:

  • MS "Kong Harald": 04.09.06 – 31.12.06
  • MS "Narvik": 01.10.06 – 21.10.06
  • MS "Midnatsol": 22.10.06 – 30.11.06

The established construction site hotel can accommodate about 3,000 people, but has lately been fully booked. The agreement with Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Coastal Voyage) both relieves the hotel and increases flexibility to manage personnel variations from day to day.

Managing personnel variations has meant some of Ormen Lange's dedicated workforce have been lodged at hotels in the Molde area. The agreement with Hurtigruten will reduce the pressure on local-area hotels.

Personnel lodging with Hurtigruten will receive the same hospitality offerings as other workers at Nyhamna.

The Ormen Lange Onshore Project is now 80 percent complete. The entire Ormen Lange/Langeled Project is 84 percent complete. The development is proceeding as planned and will be finished in October 2007.
