As development operator for the North Sea Gjøa field, Statoil has signed a contract with FMC Technologies for delivery of subsea systems to Gjøa on behalf of the licence partners.
FMC Technologies will deliver 14 Xmas trees and five subsea templates with manifolds. The contract also includes production control systems, workover systems for well interventions and an option for umbilicals. The company will also get assistance and facility maintenance options during installation and operation phases.
"We are very pleased with this deal," says Kjetel Rokseth Digre, project manager for the Gjøa development.
"We're joining forces with a supplier we know will deliver on time and on budget for this important part of the development."
"The deal will help bolster the implementation of the Gjøa project," he says.
"It also makes it feasible to commence production drilling as early as autumn 2008."
Final contract award depends on the partners submitting plans for development and operation (PDO) and installation and operation (PIO) and official approval of these.
Gjøa is located in blocks 35/9 and 36/7. Reserves were proven in 1989.
The gas is planned to be routed via the British Flags pipeline system to St Fergus in Scotland. Oil will be sent to the Statoil-operated Mongstad terminal near Bergen via a tie-in to the Troll II pipeline. Production is set to commence in 2010.
Gaz de France takes over as production operator when the field comes on stream.
Licensees are Gaz de France (30%), Petoro (30%), Statoil (20%), Shell (12%) and RWE Dea (8%)
