New civil works contract awarded for Ormen Lange

Hydro, on behalf of the Ormen Lange license group, has awarded Skanska Norge AS the contract for the final phase of civil works for the gas processing plant at Nyhamna in mid-Norway. The contract has a provisional value of NOK 92 million.

The scope of work includes reinstatement of various areas at the Nyhamna Site, site preparations for a possible subsea compression test facility, works at the product jetty and miscellaneous works. Thses are all activities that are typical at the end of the execution phase prior to the processing plant start-up phase.

Activities based on the contract will start immediately after New Year and scheduled to be completed in 2008.

Ormen Lange is the largest gas field under development on the Norwegian continental shelf. It is located 100 km off the northwest coast of Norway at a sea depth of 850 to 1,100 meters.
