Equinor is pleased to renew its Platinum Business Sponsorship of Energy Central Campus (ECC) for another year, reaffirming our commitment to supporting the development of the skilled workforce needed for the clean energy transition.

Our continued partnership with ECC reflects Equinor’s dedication to advancing skills and workforce development across the UK, recognising the essential role that industry-aligned training plays in enabling the growth of clean energy technologies and infrastructure.

Through our renewed sponsorship, Equinor will remain actively engaged with ECC’s skills programme—helping to inform training provision and ensuring that learners gain the practical, future-focused capabilities required to support an evolving energy sector.

Tom Nightingale, Equinor Local Supply Chain Manager, said:

"Equinor is proud to continue its partnership with Energy Central Campus in developing the future workforce of the offshore wind industry. With our new North East–based operations facility being the home to Dogger Bank, the world’s largest offshore wind farm, investing in local skills is a top priority. Together, we are building the high-level skills needed to power the UK’s energy transition."

Martin Lawlor OBE, Chair of ECC, commented:

"We are delighted to continue our partnership with Equinor as a Platinum Business Sponsor of ECC. As demand for clean energy grows, it is essential that skills provision evolves alongside the sector. Equinor’s continued involvement helps ensure our training remains closely aligned with industry needs and focused on building the workforce required for the future of the clean energy sector."

ECC is a unique skills collaboration between the Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council, and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult. Its mission is to build the talent pipeline required for the expanding clean energy sector while inspiring, training, and creating pathways to employment for the local community.

ECC forms part of the £95m Energising Blyth regeneration programme, designed to grow, renew, and connect the town. The programme is being delivered by Northumberland County Council and funded by the UK Government, Northumberland County Council, and the North East Combined Authority, with support from other partners.
