Equinor in the local community

We deliver energy to millions of people. Safe and responsible operations are essential for our license to operate and enable long-term value creation. We must strive for operational excellence to ensure the safety of people and assets, manage our environmental impact, respect human rights and promote integrity.

Equinor has a long tradition for co-operation with local communities within both offshore oil and gas developments and in offshore wind. It is important for us to engage with affected local communities, especially the most vulnerable. We may do so in different ways: as an on-going process during the project lifetime, during the ESIA process, through feedback (grievance) mechanism and through local employment and local procurement efforts. We understand that communities are not monolithic and that different voices exist. In line with our commitment to human rights, we want to make sure we are aware of all voices within the community, including of those who are less vocal or those who might be indirectly impacted.

Through our core business and supply chain, we create significant economic value and opportunities for society and communities through taxes, jobs, skills, education, innovation and social impact management. We develop our people and promote diversity and inclusion across our locations. Our ability to create value depends on applying high ethical standards to create a trust-based relationship with our people, our owners, our business partners and communities.
