A post-graduate course in processing natural gas will be provided by the University of Bergen in cooperation with Statoil and Norsk Hydro.
The aim is to give graduates in engineering and other disciplines a broad technical and practical understanding of the subject, says Svein Ove Bjørnestad at Statoil's Kollsnes gas treatment plant outside Bergen.
At the same time, he says, the programme will save money because it provides an alternative to expensive courses elsewhere in the world.
Part of the Statoil and Hydro contribution will be to fund a chair for the course. Their own specialists will also give lectures.
The programme starts in September, but anyone interested must register before 1 July with the centre for post-graduate and further education at the university. This can be done by e-mail to sevu@sevu.uib.no.
Teaching will take place every Thursday for three months, and provides five credits.
