The work to secure the well on the Snorre A platform in the North Sea, following a gas leak which occurred on 28 November, is continuing according to plan. It will take some time yet before the entire well is adequately secured.
So far, work has consisted of isolating the gas-bearing formation, and the first cement plug is in place. Further steps will now be taken to secure the well.
Statoil has an ongoing dialogue with its partners in the Snorre licence and the Petroleum Safety Authority with regard to plans and progress.
It remains uncertain when production from Snorre A and the Vigdis field will resume.
