Equinor — a leading energy supplier to Europe

An energy company with a broad approach — and ambitions

We are an international energy company with a Norwegian heritage and 23,000 colleagues in around 30 countries worldwide. We energise the lives of 170 million people every day and are a major contributor of secure energy to Europe.

We have announced our ambition to become a net-zero energy company by 2050. The ambition includes emissions from production and final consumption of energy, setting a clear strategic direction and demonstrating our continued commitment to long-term value creation supporting the Paris Agreement.

In Equinor, we believe our energy sources and solutions can contribute to a carbon-neutral Europe. Discover our offshore wind, natural gas, hydrogen, and CCS.

Our projects in Europe

The Longship and Northern Lights projects

The Northern Lights project is part of the Norwegian full-scale CCS project called Longship which will capture CO2 from industrial sources, transport it by ship to the west of Norway, and via a pipeline to a subsea location offshore in the North Sea for permanent storage.

Could a pipeline to Norway help solve European industry’s climate problem?

In the rocks far beneath the seabed of the North Sea, conditions are perfect for storing the CO2 that Norway and Europe need to eliminate.

CO2 Highway Europe pipeline and Smeaheia

Smeaheia can be a game-changer for CO2 transport and storage in Northwestern Europe, connecting customers with the CO2 storage site in the North Sea via the CO2 Highway Europe pipeline.
