Equinor has decided to end its offshore wind business activities in Japan. In connection with this decision, the Tokyo office will be closed by the end of 2026.
This decision reflects a reassessment of Equinor’s strategic direction, with a strengthened focus on integrated power markets.
We would like to express our deep appreciation for the close collaboration with our partners, relevant authorities, and industry stakeholders in contributing to the development of offshore wind in Japan. The insights gained and the experience accumulated through our presence in Japan will continue to support and strengthen Equinor’s global capabilities in offshore wind.
Although Equinor is ending its local presence, Japan will remain an important country for Equinor. Equinor will continue to invest in our longstanding relationships with Japanese companies in technology development, commodities, capital markets and across the supply chain.
