Career questions - contact usIf you are a student or young person interested in a career in Equinor or the energy industry, our summer internships enable you to gain hands-on experience in your chosen discipline.
The programme spans six weeks and while also giving you a broad understanding of Equinor's strategy and operations across oil and gas, renewables, and low carbon solutions.
Summer internships are available in Norway and the UK. See the link below for more information about the positions that are available.
The applications for our 2024 summer internship programme are now closed and the final deadline was November 13th.
Here is an outline of what you can expect from our summer internship recruitment process.
Complete the online application form and fill in your personal details. Attach relevant documents, for instance, your CV, diplomas, and recent transcripts. If you are in the process of finishing a degree, please upload an official temporary transcript or other document describing subjects and grades achieved to this point. You can also use your LinkedIn- profile for registration.
(Continuously - after the online application is registered)
If you are successful in the online application, you will be asked to complete an online assessment which consists of numerical, logical, situational, and personality tests. The tests will take approximately 70 minutes and should be completed no later than 48 hours after you receive the invitation.
This is a self-recorded video interview that you can perform on your smartphone or computer from any location with a stable internet connection. You will be asked some questions, get time to prepare your answers, and then a time slot to record your response. You can do the recording only once, so we recommend using the allotted preparation time well. The video interview should be completed no later than 48 hours after you receive the invitation and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Depending on volumes and when the application is sent, this may take some time; however, our ambition is to send our offers to successful candidates as soon as possible, typically in December. We also aim to inform the non-successful candidates without undue delay.
Candidates must have the necessary work permit for the country in which they are applying for a position. The work permits must be valid at the point of application and for the duration of the employment. Please note that Equinor does not support, or sponsor work or visa permits for internship applications.
You have been through a competitive recruitment process and have successfully passed each step, congratulations! Now it is time to meet your team and start shaping the future of energy, together! To give you a great introduction on your first day at work, we onboard all our interns on the same day. Our Norwegian and UK internships will start on 19 June, and our US internship on 30 May.
You will join us on a six-week programme (Norway and UK) designed to give you the experience and skills you need in your studies and future career.
Your time will be split between working within one of our business areas, taking part in learning and development activities, and delivering a group project with several of your fellow interns (the group project does not apply to US interns). Our internship is office based, but you will have the opportunity to work between home and office if agreed with your leader.
As an Equinor intern, you can also expect the following:
Hands-on experience
You will spend roughly 80% of your internship working on tasks and projects within the discipline you’ve applied for, giving you first-hand experience of your team's strategy, processes, and culture. Your leader will be your main point of contact, ensuring that you get the most out of your time with us, but you will also be supported by other colleagues in your team.
Learning and development
You will join a series of learning sessions that provide an overview of our business and introduce you to some of the processes we use at Equinor. These will include introductions to key areas of our strategy and learning opportunities covering various professional skills that will help you in your future career.
Project work
You will spend the remainder of your time on a group project with other students from various academic backgrounds and supported by experienced colleagues from around our business. Throughout this project, you will develop critical skills such as collaboration, communication, presentation, planning and time management.
