November 25, 2003, 09:45 CET

A contract worth just over NOK 120 million covering electrical, instrumentation and telecommunications work has been awarded to ABB Offshore Systems by Statoil on behalf of Gassco as operator for Gassled.

The job relates to the expansion of the Kårstø processing complex north of Stavanger.

Plans call for the work to begin in January as part of the Kårstø expansion project (KEP2005), and continue until the summer of 2005.

KEP2005 will equip the complex to accept and process rich gas from Statoil’s Kristin development in the Norwegian Sea. Ethane capacity is also being increased by more than 50 per cent.

Costed at NOK 5.74 billion, the project is due to be completed by the time Kristin begins contractual gas deliveries on 1 October 2005.

The Gassled partnership is financing the bulk of the investment in the development, with Etanor DA funding that part which relates to the ethane plant.

As technical service provider for the Kårstø complex, Statoil is executing KEP2005 on behalf of Gassco. The group also operates Etanor.
