Work to start on hydrogen station at Herøya

May 29, 2006, 12:30 CEST

On Wednesday 31 May, Minister of Transport and Communications Liv Signe Navarsete and Hydro's CEO Eivind Reiten will mark the start of building work for the first hydrogen station in Norway, right next to Hydro's Research Centre at Herøya, Porsgrunn.

The new hydrogen station is expected to be an important intersection on the planned "Hydrogen Road" between Oslo and Stavanger.

Prior to laying the foundation stone at 13:00, Hydro has invited the press to an hour-long seminar and briefing on hydrogen, and the possibilities it opens in the transport and communications sector. The seminar will take place at the guest house, or "Admini", at Herøya.

Apart from Minister of Transport and Communication Liv Signe Navarsete and CEO Eivind Reiten, participants include Einar Håndlykken from the environmental organization Zero, Alexandra Bech Gjørv, who is Executive Vice President for Hydro's efforts within New Energy, and Ulf Hafseld, who is responsible for business development for Hydro's hydrogen projects.
