What is the Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator?

The Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator is a 13-week global, mentorship-driven programme for founders who are shaping and serving the energy sector.

The programme is an opportunity for startups to accelerate development with collaborative support from Equinor, Capgemini and Techstars, with access to over 100 mentors and subject-matter experts from all around the world.

We are looking for startups that are developing cutting-edge technology and working on solutions that can help us drive the energy transition. We believe that working with startups helps us become more innovative and agile.

The four focus areas for this year's programme:

  • Energy production
  • Net-zero future
  • Digital and operational enablers
  • Disruptors

Eight start-ups selected for Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator 2022

Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator Programme kicks off today for the fourth time with eight start-ups from around the world. The programme is a unique opportunity to search for the best ideas in the energy industry to help accelerate the innovation and development of the energy future.

The programme will run for 13-weeks from the Equinor office at Fornebu, Oslo.

The start-ups have been selected from hundreds of applicants across the world and will participate in the accelerator programme hosted by the partners Equinor, Capgemini and Techstars Energy. This year, 21 March, the Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator programme is back in Oslo for an on-location programme. The start-ups will draw on the global network of Techstars, Capgemini and Equinor, and over 100 mentors will help the selected companies to develop and grow, with equity capital provided by Sandwater. The programme is a unique opportunity to search for the best ideas in the energy industry to help accelerate the innovation and development of the energy future.

"We must work, talk, innovate, and tackle challenges together to accelerate technology development and deploy new solutions. Innovative entrepreneurs and start-ups play a vital role in this space. The Equinor and Techstars Energy Accelerator allows Equinor to deploy its strengths, technical expertise, access to capital, and a desire to innovate - to collaborate with these talented entrepreneurs while exploring opportunities to implement new solutions across our business", says Mary Karunakaran, Equinor programme leader.

“At Capgemini Invent, we are passionate about bringing to life what’s next. As a global leader in technology, strategy, and digital transformation we want to utilise our global network to create sustainable impact and solutions. The Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator Program represents an opportunity to explore innovative ideas that can reshape our industry. We are very excited to be working with this year’s group of startups and to learn from them,” says Elin Skauge, vice president Innovation & Strategy at Capgemini Invent Norway.

"We can't wait to welcome the founders to beautiful Norway and support them through the program and beyond. Norway has a world-class energy-technology industry and is recognised as a global energy hub. This is the place to be if you are working on disruptive solutions within the energy sector in a broad context,’’ says Audun Abelsnes, managing director Techstars Energy.
