Safety and sustainability

Our three sustainability priorities – responsible operations; creating a low-carbon business advantage; and creating shared value – are embedded in our strategy. 

We believe that all accidents related to people, environment and assets can be prevented. The goal of zero injuries has become a part of how we think and work, with a strong focus on continuously improvement.

The role of safety and sustainability (SSU) is to set the direction and support the organisation at all levels to deliver industry leading performance within safety, security and sustainability.

Our graduates will work supporting Equinor operations where needed on a wide range of tasks, supporting all our business areas, providing excellent possibilities for networking and development.

Today we work mostly with oil and gas projects, but we are in a transition and building momentum to support our growing renewable and low carbon solutions business.

Education and background:
A wide range of studies are relevant within the SSU area, these include technical, social and economic disciplines such as safety, energy and environmental science, material science, social science, industrial economics, chemistry, medical studies, law, psychology etc.

Drilling and well

The drilling and well (D&W) technology network in Equinor has almost 1,200 employees and includes engineers, specialists and managers. The main disciplines we cover are drilling, completion, intervention and subsea engineering. We have a worldwide corporate responsibility for D&W activities, and we are currently running approximately 40 operations daily from platforms, rigs and vessels. Our teams collaborate, with our customers, to deliver exploration and development wells.

Subsurface: Geosciences

Graduates in Subsurface Geoscience disciplines (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics and Data) will join the Subsurface network of approximately 1600 professionals spread across the company.

Subsurface ensures that Equinor finds, matures and manages its hydrocarbon resources in a profitable, competitive, safe and energy efficient manner.

As geoscientist/data specialist in the Subsurface network, you will work and deliver within a multidisciplinary team and build your competence together with your colleagues. You will have the opportunity to work within a variety of areas including Geological, Geophysical and/or Petrophysical evaluations, Basin, Play & Petroleum System Analysis, Prospect Evaluation & Maturation, Well Planning, Reservoir evaluation, characterization and modelling. Geoscience and Data Science resources may also be involved in technology development and implementation.

Finance and control

The finance and control (F&C) function is the driving force behind performance and the creation of greater value in the company, we ensure financing and are responsible for financial information internally and externally. The F&C function provides professional support and advice towards business units and the corporate executive management. We also represent Equinor in the financial markets and are responsible for the interaction towards equity analysts and investors.

Information technology & Digitalisation

Information Technology plays a vital role in accelerating the energy transition within Equinor and shaping the future of energy. IT and digitalisation is part of everything we do and a key enabler for value creation as well as secure and compliant operations.

By joining us, you will be part of a technology powerhouse where we have brought together research, technology, digitalisation, and IT with the aim to deliver safe and efficient technology, innovative solutions to problems and create new opportunities.

We utilize advanced technologies such as cloud computing, microservice architectures and machine learning to unlock the potential of the vast amounts of data we have.

Cyber security has a high focus in Equinor and is a critical function to safeguard our operations and enable our digital ambitions.

Marketing and supply

Marketing and supply (M&S) is a commercial area responsible for maximising the value creation in Equinor’s global mid- and downstream positions. The area is responsible for global marketing and trading of crude, petroleum products, natural gas and electricity. M&S is also responsible for transportation and development of infrastructures to ensure flow assurance for Equinor’s upstream production and developing low carbon solutions for the energy transition.

We are close to 1,000 employees across the M&S area with key roles in Gas-, Liquids- and Shipping Operators, Shipping Charterers, Contract managers, Deal handlers, Asset/Project managers, Traders, Marketers, Originators, Macro- and Market Analysts and functional responsibility within IT, value chain improvements and digitalisation.

You will have the opportunity to work on multiple tasks throughout the business. Work tasks may vary according to your competence profile, assignment and business needs. Operation and maintenance

The operation and maintenance (O&M) role is to deliver safe, predictable and profitable operations in accordance with regulations, governance and operational parameters. O&M professionals covers all aspects of operation, maintenance and modifications for operating assets, and modification and investment projects for all phases. O&M is supporting both our offshore and onshore plants.

In Norway we operate offshore fields of all sizes, from giants such as Troll, Statfjord and Gullfaks, to small fast-track projects tied to existing infrastructure. Our task is to transform the Norwegian shelf and creating value for our owners, suppliers and the people of Norway. This work is dependent on good cooperation across the business areas/organization and the ability to identify and change way of working.

Our onshore plants in Scandinavia transform oil and gas to different fuel and products. They have an important role in creating value while improving the carbon efficiency in operations and delivering more sustainable products. This includes CO2 reduction, electrification and bio-fuels. In addition, digitalization of our operations will be in focus.

Subsurface: Reservoir & Production Technology 

Reservoir and Production Engineer graduates will join the Subsurface network of approximately 1600 professionals spread across the company. Subsurface ensures that Equinor finds, matures and manages its hydrocarbon resources in a profitable, competitive, safe and energy efficient manner.

As an engineer in the Subsurface network, you will work and deliver within a multidisciplinary team and build your competence together with your engineering colleagues. You will have the opportunity to work within a variety of areas including reservoir- and production technology activities during exploration, early phase, field development, production phase, abandonment, and portfolio transactions. Subsurface graduates may also be involved in the development and implementation of new technology.

People and organisation (PO) build a values-based, high-performing and learning organisation enabled by the right capabilities to deliver on the business strategy.

The PO function comprises leadership development, employee relations, total rewards, organsation design & change, internal communication, workforce capabilities, diversity and inclusion, learning and development, recruitment and deployment, employer branding and personnel emergency.

As a graduate in the PO function, you will have the opportunity to develop yourself and work within different PO areas:.

  • Corporate PO; develops strategies, policies and requirements and supports and monitors the business areas.
  • PO within the Business areas provide strategic direction and advice to the line management and ensures that ongoing PO processes are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Functional Centre of Excellence PO provides consultative, operational and transactional services including learning and development, reward and employee relations, payroll, recruitment and personnel administration.

Project development

The project development (PD) network consists of several thousand employees in Equinor who have different fields of expertise. The PD process aims to provide safe, efficient, cost competitive and low carbon future project deliveries. The project portfolio ranges from traditional oil & gas development projects to projects within the new value chains of hydrogen, offshore wind, solar and carbon capture and storage. The PD network also drives technology activities to solve critical business challenges and create new opportunities within the project portfolio.

Renewables

Equinor's renewable business is growing rapidly, and we are already innovators in offshore wind and a world leader in carbon capture and storage. Our ambition is to grow profitably and expand into other sources of renewable energy.

The renewable portfolio includes several assets where Equinor today has a world leading position, including floating offshore wind, innovative battery solutions to improve performance from wind-based electricity production. Equinor has research facilities and long-lasting operational experience from capturing and storing large volumes of CO2 and advanced plans to introduce clean natural gas in order to offer emission free energy to existing natural gas buyers. All these solutions have the potential to contribute significantly to reducing global CO2 emissions.

Strategy and business development

The Business Development and Strategy functions within the CFO organisation are responsible for positioning Equinor for the future by shaping the corporate strategy of the company, defining how and where to compete, and optimizing our corporate portfolio accordingly.

Business Development delivers short- and long-term business development, mergers, acquisitions and divestments activities, to actively drive Equinor’s corporate development.

Working within procurement and supplier relations (PSR) in Equinor offers close collaboration across all business areas and disciplines as well as with our suppliers. PSR ensures that Equinor is provided with the right goods and services both short and long term.

Service management

In Equinor we deliver administrative and technical services to our assets through a shared service model. The role of the service management (SM) function is to support the different service providers across Equinor.

The responsibilities for service management are to develop the functional strategy, develop and improve Equinor global standards, requirements and work processes within SM. We drive simplification and SM improvement initiatives across the company, monitor performance, provide advise and support.

There will be no graduate positions in 2021.

Legal

Legal offers unique opportunities for lawyers who want to employ all sides of their legal skills, work collaboratively with industry projects and enjoy inter-disciplinary work in an international environment.

We are the competence unit for all legal matters related to the Equinor group’s business areas and corporate activities and consists of legal experts, specialists and qualified support personnel. The unit has overall responsibility for advising on all legal matters as well as ethics and anti-corruption compliance and acts as the secretariat for the corporate bodies within the Equinor Group.

Legal employees are a truly diversified group of people within Equinor, both with respect to locations, nationalities and gender. The lawyers participate actively throughout the business in preparation of negotiations, strategies, drafting of agreements, completion of projects and dispute resolution, as well as advising on ethics, anti-corruption and performing other training activities.
